Odoo released version 20 at Odoo Experience in Brussels on 24 September 2026. The official release notes cover dozens of apps and country localizations. This is a short guide to the changes most likely to matter to manufacturers, distributors and finance teams, with links to our more detailed articles.
AI across the apps
AI agents can now create and update records, take files as input, answer questions about a document you are previewing, and be called from automated and scheduled actions. "Topics" are renamed "skills". You can dictate requests by voice. Odoo can also be connected to outside AI tools through MCP (Model Context Protocol). One practical change: all AI features now use credits, bought through Odoo's in-app purchase system (IAP).
Manufacturing
Produced quantities can be recorded on work orders, and with "Continuous Production" enabled on a bill of materials, the next operation starts as soon as some quantity is ready. Ongoing manufacturing orders can be split. There are new work order Kanban and Gantt views, with drag-and-drop planning.
Inventory
A stock aging report, an improved inventory-at-a-past-date view, suggested minimum and maximum levels for reordering rules, better intercompany flows, landed costs on individual products and HS codes per product variant.
Accounting
A Cumulative Translation Adjustment line for currency differences, bill payment directly from Odoo through payment initiation providers, matching rules for automatic reconciliation, prevention of double payments, AI financial insights and retroactive cost-of-goods-sold updates when a cost changes after delivery.
Localizations
Updates for many countries, including China (VAT and Surcharges Return, voucher batch printing), Hong Kong (HKFRS reports and extensive payroll, including MPF and IR56 forms), Vietnam (Circular 99 reports and the 01/GTGT declaration), Mexico (CFDI and SAT improvements), Saudi Arabia (ZATCA in the Send wizard) and the UAE (VAT audit file and an IFRS chart of accounts).
Everyday usability
Many smaller changes add up: CC recipients on emails, a chatter filter, a calendar side panel for scheduling, bulk attachment download, and either a dot or a comma as the decimal separator.
How to get it
Odoo 20 is available now for new databases on Odoo Online and Odoo.sh. For existing databases, Odoo expects to open its upgrade platform around the end of November 2026, with a test mode available earlier. If your database has custom modules, plan a test upgrade first: that is where most of the real work sits.
