A Depreciation Schedule That Actually Matches How Finance Thinks
Standard accounting modules track depreciation, but they don't always present it the way a finance team actually needs to review it. For one client, the ask was simple to state and mildly fiddly to build: a single report showing every fixed asset's depreciation story end to end.
The fix: one report, the fields finance actually asks for
We built a dedicated depreciation schedule report pulling directly from the asset records, with the fields a finance reviewer actually wants side by side: asset code and name, asset group, purchase date, original value, current-year depreciation, accumulated depreciation, remaining useful life, and book value.
None of this data was missing from the system. It already existed across individual asset records. The report's only job is to line it up in one place, in the shape a monthly close or an audit actually needs, instead of requiring someone to open assets one at a time and copy numbers into a spreadsheet.
The bigger pattern
This is a common shape of ERP request: the underlying data is fine, but the default views weren't built for how a specific team works. A custom report is often a small, cheap fix for a real recurring friction, especially around month-end and audit season when the same numbers get pulled the same way every time. If your team is still assembling a report by hand from data that already lives in Odoo, that's usually a sign it is worth building once, properly.
