The connected backbone: orders, products, bills of materials, routings, inventory and results all live here, in one system. Majorbird MES runs as a layer on top, so the floor and the back office share the same data.

PostgreSQL

where your data lives

What it is
The world’s most advanced open-source relational database, trusted for mission-critical data.

Its role in your MES
Every serial, measurement, inspection result and genealogy link is stored in PostgreSQL in open, standard formats.

Your production history is an asset you fully own: query it, back it up, export it any time in open formats. Proven at scale, so it stays fast as your history grows.

Grafana

Its role in your MES
Turns the data flowing off the line into live views (first-pass yield, throughput, station status, defect trends) on the floor, in the office, and on a phone.

See what’s happening now, not in yesterday’s report. Fully customizable, and open: add, change or embed views with no per-viewer licence fees.

MQTT / EMQX

how your machines talk

What it is
MQTT is the open, industry-standard messaging protocol for connecting machines and sensors (the language of industrial IoT). EMQX is a high-performance open-source MQTT broker.

Its role in your MES
Testers, instruments and equipment publish readings over MQTT; the MES listens and captures the values straight into the unit’s record: no manual typing.

Why it matters to you
Machine data captured automatically and accurately. Because MQTT is an open standard, almost any modern equipment integrates without a proprietary bridge.

Linux & Docker

a portable, dependable deployment

What it is
Linux is the open OS that runs most of the world’s servers; Docker packages software into portable, self-contained containers.

Its role in your MES
The whole system deploys as containers on Linux, so it installs and updates cleanly and runs the same way everywhere.

Why it matters to you
You choose where it runs: your servers, your data centre, or the cloud, and move it later without a rebuild. No hardware lock-in, predictable deployments.

Open web standards

What it is
The shop-floor terminal is a standard web application that runs in an ordinary browser.

Its role in your MES
Operators work from any tablet, PC or phone, scanning by camera or scanner, reading connected serial devices, with nothing to install.

Why it matters to you
No per-device app to license or maintain, and no special hardware to buy. Any modern browser is a workstation, keeping rollout fast and running costs low.

How it fits together

A layered system, top to bottom

  • The shop floor: operators on browser terminals; machines and instruments feeding data over MQTT.
  • The MES layer: Majorbird’s process designer, scenario engine and terminal that guide the work, capture every result, and enforce quality and traceability.
  • The connected core: Odoo for orders, products and inventory, and PostgreSQL for the permanent record, with Grafana reading live off the same data.

Orders flow down from the ERP to the floor; results, serials and traceability flow back up into the same system. One connected platform, from planning to production to the permanent record.
